Virtual Dinner Parties that Feed Your Soul
Stay connected to friends and family in a new, creative way,
and grow your sense of community
Step 1:
Pick a Date & Time
Pick a Date & Time
- Give yourself a week, or so, to plan
- Keep in mind friends that are in different time zones
- Schedule the virtual dinner party for no more than 90 minutes
- Plan on having 6-12 people attend (much more can get chaotic)
- Do you want a theme?
Step 2:
The Meal
The Meal
- If you want to support local restaurants, pick one to support (or have everyone order from one of their favorites)
- Or share a recipe for everyone to make, so you can compare over the call
Step 3:
Create an Invite List
Create an Invite List
- Start small – you can always add to it (and some people may ask if they can invite 1 or 2 others)
- Determine your method of inviting (online invitation, social media group, email)
Step 4:
Determine the Technology for the Call
Determine the Technology for the Call
- Zoom is one of the most popular (group video call – free for hosting up to a 40 minute event)
- Other (be sure you understand what your friends’ limitations may be)
- Do you need technical assistance to get this set up? You can ask a friend who knows about these tools, or you can book one of our professionals
Step 5:
Have Someone Monitor and/or Moderate the Party
Have Someone Monitor and/or Moderate the Party
Someone not involved with the dinner party should act as a Monitor, and possibly also Moderate in order to keep the flow of the conversation going. Some reasons to have this include:
- Background noise and side conversations can create a bad experience
- Something can happen in one location that may require turning off someone’s camera quickly
